Did Zakir Naik really refuse to give shields to ‘na-mehram’ girls?
World-renowned Islamic preacher Dr. Zakir Naik abruptly left the stage during an event in Islamabad yesterday. It was reported that he was supposed to present shields to the girls from an orphanage but left, saying that the girls were non-mahram.
However, the reality is somewhat different. Prominent journalist Amir Hashim Khakwani wrote that the situation was misrepresented. Dr. Zakir Naik was invited to the Pakistan Sweet Home, where he answered questions. As his time there came to an end, he had to leave for another engagement.
During this time, the organizers called the girls to receive their shields. Dr. Zakir Naik politely declined, stating that he needed to attend another program.
His departure was portrayed in various ways on social media, with many people arguing that he should not have left in that manner. Some found it strange that he mentioned the issue of non-mahram girls.
While some praised his actions, others took the opportunity to criticize Dr. Zakir Naik, claiming he should have handled the situation differently.
Amir Hashim Khakwani urged social media users to conduct some research before forming opinions or writing about any incident. He suggested that it wouldn’t hurt to wait a little for clarification when such news arises.
As of now, no formal explanation has been provided regarding what transpired on stage during the event at Pakistan Sweet Home in Islamabad.
