PTI’s Marwat calls for changing narrative by starting talks with political parties
Only narrative of negotiations with Establishment have to say goodbye: Sher Afzal Marwat- Aaj News

PTI lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat has called for changing the narrative by starting talks with the political parties instead of the establishment.

“After our recent interaction with treasury lawmakers, I feel that this narrative that talks will only be held with the establishment should end,” he said while appearing on News Insight with Amir Zia which was aired on Aaj News on Tuesday. “Talks will be with PML-N, PPP, and other political parties.”

PTI founder Imran Khan has refused to talk with the opposition, alleging that the ruling coalition does not hold the power.

Marwat’s reaction comes after lawmakers from both sides of the aisle condemned PTI MNAs’ arrest from Parliament last week. National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has formed a committee comprising PTI leaders and treasury members.

“After talks with everyone then we will have an agreement for the country’s interest,” Marwat said.

According to the PTI lawmaker, there was a development in the recent NA session where lawmakers started talks. He praised the NA speaker for playing a “key role” in developments following their arrests.

“PTI MNAs believe the NA speaker’s gesture has become uncontroversial,” he said.

When asked how many leaders agreed with such a suggestion, he said that PTI MNAs were on one page over this. He was of the view that the establishment and the ruling parties have ties.

In response to a question, Marwat stated that there was a need for reforms in the Constitution which are for the people.

He went on to add that the alleged abduction of PTI lawmakers before the legislation has raised questions over the legitimacy of the constitutional amendment.

The PTI MNA called for giving working papers to leaders to have a discussion on the legislation.
