Billionaire Laurene Powell Jobs’ luxurious $120 million super-yacht, the Venus, was involved in a minor collision with another mega-yacht owned by Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego.

The incident reportedly took place on July 22nd in Italian waters, where both yachts were anchored at the time.

According to a source close to the matter, the collision occurred when “the wind changed very suddenly, picking up from a breeze to 55 knots over the course of a few minutes.”

The 256-foot Venus, which was specially designed for the late Steve Jobs by renowned designer Philippe Starck, reportedly came into contact with Pliego’s 344-foot yacht, the Lady Moura. Neither boat was said to have “dragged anchor,” but the Lady Moura was on a chain that was double the length expected for the depth of water they were in, potentially contributing to the incident.

Pliego’s team captured the collision on video, and the Mexican billionaire can be heard expressing frustration, saying in Spanish, “I would like to know what the captain and crew were doing that they didn’t see a yacht the size of mine in front of me.

Good thing nothing but a scratch happened, but it’s a big scratch that’s going to [cost] a lot to fix.“

The source close to the incident stated that “No family was on board [the Venus], only crew,” and that both captains were in immediate discussion about the minor repairs needed following the collision.

The Venus and the Lady Moura, each valued at over $120 million, are among the most luxurious yachts in the world, owned by two of the wealthiest individuals on the planet.

While the incident resulted in only minor damage, it serves as a reminder of the sheer scale and power of these floating palaces.
