Former senator Hidayatullah killed in Bajaur blast

Four other people were killed in the remote-controlled bombing

A remote controlled bombing claimed the lives of a former senator and at least four others in Bajaur on Wednesday.

The bombing targeted former Senator Hidayatullah, who lost his life. The attack took place in Damadola.

Four other men, identified as Irfan, Yar Muhammad, Sami-ur-Rehman and Nazar Deen were also killed in the attack.

All five bodies were shifted to the District Headquarter Hospital.

Hidayatullah was travelling for an election campaign for his nephew in PK-22 when his vehicle was attacked.

He remained a member of the Senate from 2012 to 2024 and also served as the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation. He was elected as an independent candidate.

The deceased former senator is the brother of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shukatullah.
