American Idol advocates for Adele as Katy Perry’s replacement on the show
American Idol season 21 runner-up Colin Stough has publicly expressed his support for Adele to replace Katy Perry as a judge on the singing competition show.
Stough praised Adele’s musical talent and work ethic, saying “To me, she has a different fame. She has true music fame, not like a TV fame or a publicity fame,” in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at the CMA Fest event on June 8th.
Stough acknowledged that he has not met Adele personally, but believes she “seems amazing” and “stands up for what she thinks”, qualities he feels would make her an excellent fit for the American Idol judging panel.
Katy Perry announced her departure from American Idol back in February on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, leaving a vacancy that Stough believes Adele could fill admirably.
The British superstar is known for her powerhouse vocals and down-to-earth persona, which Stough feels would be an asset on the show.

“I’d love to meet her one day,” Stough added, expressing his desire to discuss Adele’s potential role on American Idol in more detail with the singer herself.
Since his runner-up finish on the most recent season of the reality singing competition, Stough said his life has “changed” significantly.
His endorsement of Adele as Katy Perry’s replacement has certainly added to the growing speculation around the show’s future judging panel.
