Over 7,000 sims restored after tax returns filed
The Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) crackdown on non-filers is starting to show positive results, with over 7,167 individuals having their mobile SIMs restored so far.
According to FBR sources, the SIMs were restored after the respective individuals filed their tax returns.
The FBR has shared data of 65,000 non-filers with telecom companies, instructing them to block the mobile SIMs of those who haven’t filed their tax returns.
Sources indicate that a total list of 506,671 non-filers was compiled.

This action is part of the FBR’s ongoing efforts to increase tax compliance. The decision to gradually block the SIMs of non-filers was made under the Income Tax General Order.
