PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi has called for building a national narrative that secures the people, investors, infrastructure, and foreigners as the country deals with a surge in terrorism incidents.

In an interview with Shaukat Piracha on his show Rubaroo, he stressed that everyone should pull their weight and lamented the recent terrorist attacks in Karachi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla.

The show was aired on Aaj News on Friday.

“It is a moment of concern,” he said and called for political stability in the country. The PML-N senator also mentioned the apparent involvement of external forces in damaging the country’s law and order situation.

While speaking about the NA speaker’s decision to suspend two MNAs’ membership for the current session, he lamented that those who should have been in local institutions were part of the National Assembly. He advised that politicians should sit together to discuss national issues and make decisions.

PTI’s Shaukat Yousafzai, who had also joined the show via video link, agreed with Hashmi that everyone should pull their weights and added that it would make matters much better.

He added that ruckus in Parliament has been in the past as well, but lamented that such practices should happen and said President Asif Ali Zardari should not have been disturbed during his speech.

Yousafzai shared that similar situations occurred when former president Arif Alvi used to address the assembly. He reiterated that such events should not happen.

He also mentioned the inadequate facilities being provided to former prime minister Imran Khan, saying that a glass window has been placed in the meeting room that makes it difficult for him to talk to visitors.

PML-N’s Hashmi lamented that leaders have not learned from the past and added that the jail manual should be followed. “We need to educate our people, home ministry, and prisoners,” he said, “we have to change ourselves and follow the book.”

PPP Nayyar Bukhari had joined the show in its last segment. He was of the view that the opposition was afraid of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari.

He described PTI chief Imran Khan as a “mismatch”, saying that how a 70-year-old man can be the leader of youth.

“Pakistani politicians should be mature,” he said.

When asked, he said the party was concerned over the rising street crimes in the city. But he also highlighted the apparent involvement of external forces in damaging the country’s peace.

He added that the party was ready to sit with the MQM-P to talk about the city’s peace.
