Keanu Reeves, renowned for his roles in films like John Wick and The Matrix trilogy, is set to join the cast of ‘Sonic 3’ as the character Shadow, according to multiple sources reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The announcement comes shortly after Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon, where they unveiled the first footage of ‘Sonic 3.’ The footage revealed that Jim Carrey’s character, Dr. Robotnik, would create Shadow the Hedgehog as a means to regain his former glory. Shadow, a character first introduced in the 2001 video game Sonic Adventure 2, is known for his dark and edgy persona, providing a contrast to the hero, Sonic, while possessing similar powers.

Paramount’s ‘Sonic’ franchise has achieved significant success since its debut in 2020 with ‘Sonic the Hedgehog,’ which exceeded expectations by grossing $319 million worldwide. The sequel, ‘Sonic 2,’ released in 2022, performed even better, earning $404 million globally. Director Jeff Fowler helmed all three installments, with Ben Schwartz voicing Sonic and James Mardsen portraying Tom Wachowski, Sonic’s human companion.
