Two terrorists, two injured in North Waziristan operation: ISPR

They remain involved in numerous terrorist activities, says military’s media wing

At least two terrorists have been killed and two injured during an exchange of fire with security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations said that the operation was conducted on the night of March 19 and 20.

Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the site, the ISPR said and added that the terrorists “remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities” in the area.

Later, a sanitisation operation was conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area as “security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.”

Pakistan has seen a surge in terrorist attacks after the end of the shaky ceasefire deal with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban in 2022. The country has blamed the interim Afghan for not allowing its land to be used as a “launch pad” for terrorists.

The Afghan Taliban has rejected such accusations and demanded proof from the government. But earlier this week Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Zabihullah Mujahid admitted that some border regions might be out of its control after terrorists linked to outlawed TTP killed seven Pakistani soldiers.

Earlier this week, at least eight terrorists including a perpetrator of Mir Ali attack were killed during a security forces’ operation in the North Waziristan district between the night of March 17 and 18.
