ECP office attacked in Karachi, no casualties reported
An office of the Election Commission of Pakistan in Karachi was struck by a bombing on Friday. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
SSP South said that intitial reports indicated that the explosive was placed in a plastic bag in the parking area of the office, located in Saddar.
He confirmed that no people had been killed or injured in the attack.
The SSP said that a sanitation worker spotted the bag near a vehicle and carried it over to a footpath. The explosion took place shortly afterward.
He added that the incident seemed to be an attempt to spread fear in the area. He added that bomb disposal squad has been dispatched to survey the site of the bombing.
Elections are scheduled to take place on February 8 across the country.
