Asad Shafiq bids farewell to international cricket
Test cricketer Asad Shafiq has announced his retirement from international cricket.
Asad Shafiq played the last match of his career at the National Stadium on Sunday. Under his captaincy, Karachi Whites won the final of the National T20 Cup and made his last match a memorable one.
After the match, his fellow cricketers gave him a grand farewell from the ground. Asad Shafiq, 37, will serve as a selection consultant for the PCB.
Asad Shafiq represented the Pakistan cricket team in 77 Tests, 60 ODIs, and 10 T20 matches. He made his international debut in 2010 in an ODI match against Bangladesh.
Asad Shafiq’s Test career includes 12 centuries and 27 half-centuries, while he scored 9 half-centuries in ODIs.
Asad Shafiq scored 4 thousand 660 runs in Test career, 1 thousand 336 runs in ODIs and 192 runs in T20 Internationals.
Asad Shafiq also holds the distinction of scoring the most centuries while playing at the number six position. Since 2020, he has not managed to win a place in the national team in any match.
