Justice Mazahar Naqvi writes letter for urgent fixing of petitions against SJC proceedings
Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi has written a letter to the three most senior judges of the Supreme Court to urgently fix his petitions challenging proceedings against him in the Supreme Judicial Council.
The letter has been addressed to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and says that his petitions have not been fixed for hearing despite the 14-day period under the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill having lapsed.
Justice Naqvi has reminded the three judges in the letter that they are entrusted with fixing petitions for hearing if they are filed under article 184 (3).
The judge says it is ‘astonishing’ that the petitions have neither been numbered or put in the process of being fixed.

Justice Naqvi has added that despite the petitions for interim relief having been filed, the SJC is continuing to proceed against him which is prejudicing his petitions.
“… further if any order is passed on the basis of proceedings, it may frustrate my submissions agitated in the constituion petitions,” he added.
He added that the SJC is proceeding against him on the basis of ‘bald and frivolous’ allegations.
The judge has mentioned that his petitions were filed on November 20 and November 30.
The SJC is currently hearing petitions against Jutice Naqvi where he has been accused of misconduct and misdeclaration of assets.
