Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios was declared the 2023 Miss Universe on Sunday.

The final three contenders in the beauty pageant in El Salvador were Miss Australia, Miss Thailand and Miss Nicaragua.

The 2023 edition also saw a Pakistani model, Erica Robin, entering the pageant to represent the country. However, no official recognition was given to her by the government.

The annual beauty contest run by the Miss Universe Organisation is broadcast in 165 countries and has been running for 71 years.

Although the pageant has changed many owners, including being in the hands of Donald Trump, it is currently owned by Thai celebrity media tycoon Jakapong “Anne” Jakrajutatip.
