Ring leader of terrorists killed in Mardan operation: ISPR

Soldier martyred in Parachinar operation, says military’s media wing

A “high-value” terrorist was killed in an intelligence based operation in the general area of Katalang, Mardan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Friday.

The military wing’s statement described the terrorist as a ring leader, Faisal. The two engagements took place between security forces and the terrorists in KP on the night of September 28/29.

The operation took place at a time when two blasts in Balochistan and KP rocked Pakistan.

“The killed terrorist was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities and was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies,” said the statement, adding that weapon and ammunition were also recovered from the site.

Meanwhile, a soldier was martyred in another encounter with terrorists in the general area of Parachinar, Kurram district.

The martyred army man was identified as Lance Naik Ghairat Khan, 33, a resident of the Kurram district.

“Own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location,” it said and added that Khan fought gallantly.

“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
