Interim setup of Sindh waiting for election date, says Junaid Shah
The caretaker government’s responsibility was to hold free and fair elections, Dr Junaid Shah, the interim minister for youth affairs, said on Thursday.
“We are waiting for the election date,” he told Aaj News. “The purpose of the caretaker setup is to ensure that there is no disruption in day-to-day affairs.”
Elections in Pakistan are due this year, but many experts are of the view that the polls could be delayed until next year as the polls overseer said last week that the delimitation of constituencies will be complete by November 30.
Caretaker PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar hinted on Thursday that elections could be held earlier than expected and the government would implement the Supreme Court orders for elections within 90 days.
Junaid added that the governments have domain under which it has to work. “Until elections are not held, the government will continue to perform its duties as per the law and Constitution.”

He shared that the interim setup would organise the Sindh Games in November or December. The caretaker minister added that the government intended to hold culture shows.
Karachi sportspersons dominated the 17th Sindh Games at different venues organised in 2018.
“We want to highlight the talent of the people through media,” he said.
