Many government employees of Punjab have turned out to be operatives of the banned organisations, sources told Aaj News on Monday.

They added several employees were working in many institutions – including health, police, education and WAPDA – despite being convicted.

The government employees were enlisted in the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 and according to record at least 26 of them had connections with different outlawed organisations.

The names also include one of the police constables in the province.

They added that the cases of several government employees were still under trial and eight government employees in the list of fourth scheduler have retired from service while two have been dismissed from service.

It was mandatory for people under the Fourth Schedule to attend the police station monthly. But the report revealed that more than 100 were missing – out of over 1,400 people in the list.

Sources said that government employees in the Fourth Scheduler remained in touch with terrorist organisations and several employees were still holding government jobs despite being convicted.
