Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 19 caretaker ministers resign
Atleast 19 members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s caretaker cabinet handed in their resignations on Thursday.
Sources had claimed that the resignations were given to Chief Minister Mohammad Azam Khan who had invited all members of the cabinet for tea.
Caretaker Information Minister Feroze Jamal Kakakhel confirmed the development and said that upto eight more resignations could be on the way.
Reports said that the tea event where the resignations were submitted was closed off to all outsiders including the media.
Sources have claimed that the caretaker CM could himself resign soon as well.
Government sources added that the resignations had been demanded due to ‘unsatisfactory performance’.
However, the resignations come days after the Election Commission of Pakistan wrote a letter to the KP government, demanding that ministers involved in political activities be removed from their posts.
The ministers were sworn in on January 26 after the provincial assembly was dissolved by the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Earlier in July, ECP removed Shahid Khattak, caretaker provincial minister for transport and information technology. after he participated in a political rally.
