Polio vaccination halted in Khyber after police refuse to provide security
A polio vaccination campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s district Khyber had to be halted after police officials refused to provide security.
Reports said that the police started a ‘complete boycott’ of the campaign due to non-payment of their stipend. In response, the district administration suspended the campaign.
The vaccination campaign was launched on Monday inj 17 districts of KP targeting 2.7 million children under the age of five.
A total of 6,947 teams have been formed to carry out the campaign across the province with a over 18,000 police officials posted for duty.
The vaccination campaign will include both drops and injections.
