More rains expected on Thursday across the country

The National Disaster Management Authority has forecasted more rains on Thursday which could lead to flooding in rivers and urban centres as well as landsliding.

NDMA said that the most rain recorded on Wednesday was in Lahore with 63mm followed by Chakwal and Gujranwala with 14mm and 11 mm respectively.

Rawlakot, Khulli, Khuzdar and Tirah also received minor rainfall.

However, Thursday could lead to thundershowers with isolated heavy falls in Galliyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak and Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rains can also be expected in Punjab in Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang and Bhakkar.

Some rains might also be recorded in GB, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad.

Guddu and Sukkur Barrages on the river Indus are likely to record medium high levels of flood.

On the other hand, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad and Peshawar could face urban flooding as a result of the rains.

Mountainous regions of KP, Punjab, GB and AJK have also been issued a landsliding warning.

Administrations throughout these regions have been told to stay prepared for emergencies.
