Indian woman Anju receives land, money in gifts in Pakistan

Earlier this week the couple told Indian media they were not married

Indian woman Anju Parsad, who converted to Islam to marry her Pakistani lover Nasrullah and is know known by her Islamic name Fatima, has been gifted a piece of land and money by a housing company in the country.

Earlier this week, Anju and Nasrullah had denied reports about their nikah and her conversion and claimed that Anju was planning to return to India in two or three days. However, she is still living in Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as of Saturday, July 29.

A video of Anju and Nasruallh surfaced on Indian social media profiles on Saturday, showing the couple with the chief operating officer of a real estate company.

In the video Mohsin Khan Abbasi, the CEO of Pak Star Group of companies is heard explaining why he was visiting the couple.

He gifted a 10 Marla residential plot, PKR50,000 in cash, also other precious item to Nasrullah and Anju.

Abbasi say he was moved by the fact that Nasruallh’s contacts with Anju ultimately took the form of a dawat (invitation to accept Islam) and culminated in Anju converting to Islam.

The video was first posted by Indian journalist Ravinder Singh Robin on Twitter.

Couple avoids Pakistani media

The couple has been speaking to Indian reporters ever since the news of Anju’s arrival in Upper Dir broke last Sunday. They have mostly avoided Pakistani journalists even those working for international media.

On Saturday morning when reports surfaced that the couple had been visited by real estate developers, no one from the family confirmed it until the video was posted to social media.

The video shows Anju accepting a cheque and what looks like property document from Abbasi.

Abbasi visited them Friday evening and there are reports that his company plans to appoint Anju as its brand ambassador.

Plans for a big press conference

Nasir Zada of Aaj News who has been covering the issue says the couple plans to hold a press conference where they would likely make a passionate appeal to the government.

They will be seeking Pakistani nationality for Fatima and security for her, he says.
