Moderate earthquake jolts Pakistan, India, China
A moderate 5.6 magnitude earthquake has jolted Islamabad and other Pakistani cities. The tremors were also felt in India and China.
Aaj News reported that the earthquake shook the capital city of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Attock in Punjab, and Haripur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It also jolted Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir regions.
The earthquake’s epicenter was near Gandoh Bhalessa in Indian-controlled Kashmir. It struck at 1:03pm according to Pakistan time.
While the official statement was awaited Android Earthquake Alerts System reported the intensity at 5.2 on the Richter scale.
Later, Pakistan’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre reported it as a 5.6 magnitude earthquake saying its epicenter was located in ‘eastern Kashmir’ at a depth of 10km.
Strong tremors were felt in IIOJK. The shaking was felt in other parts of north India, including the national capital Delhi and its adjoining areas, Indian media reported.
