India, others will play Champions Trophy in Pakistan: ICC assures PCB
The visiting delegation of the International Cricket Council has reportedly given its guarantee to Pakistan Cricket Board that all members including India will play Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
ICC president Greg Barclay and chief executive Geoff Allardice were in Pakistan on a two-day-visit resolve the World Cup matter with PCB.
The guarantee was given during their meeting with PCB Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi.
During the high-profile hurdle, Sethi informed the ICC delegation about Pakistan’s reservations about playing the tournament in India, the Asia Cup matter, the new financial model, and the Champions Trophy tournament.
Najam Sethi, according to SAMAA TV, told them that the tours of Australia, England, and New Zealand of Pakistan were successful and there were no security issues, so India should not have a problem in visiting Pakistan.
He reminded the ICC President and the Chief Executive that Pakistan played in India in tough times and India should also visit Pakistan for Asia Cup and Champions Trophy.
The ICC delegation has no answer and remained silent throughout the meeting. However, they assured the PCB that they will talk to India regarding the matter.
Moreover, the PCB Chairman also raised the matter of the ICC revenue model saying that Pakistan’s players are leading the rankings at the moment but still the board was getting a small chuck in the revenue model.
He also demanded an equal share of the revenue from Pakistan and India matches.
ICC also assured that every team will visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025 and they discuss the matter at the meeting.
