Pakistan women’s tour of Australia didn’t go as planned as the hosts completed a whitewash thanks to Beth Mooney’s century in North Sydney on Saturday.

She struck 14 boundaries and four maximums for her career-best 133 as Australia registered a 101-run victory in the third and final ODI of the series.

In reply to Australia’s 337-run target, Pakistan only managed to score 235/7 from their 50 overs. For Pakistan, Captain Bismah Mahroof topped the chart, scoring 44 off 71 deliveries. She struck three boundaries.

Overall, Pakistan batters failed to maintain a run rate in their innings. Sadaf Shamas and Sidra Ameen provided Pakistan with a 61-run start. They scored 30 off 50 and 34 off 66 respectively.

Nida Dar’s run-a-ball 29 provided Pakistan’s innings a much-needed boost. But overall it was too much for the batters to handle in the end.

For Australia, Ashleigh Gardner claimed three wickets for 30, while Jess Jonassen registered the figures of 2-25.

Earlier, Australia posted 336 for 9 after being asked to bat first. Meg Lanning capped off her series return with 72 from 70 as Australia pushed for a clean sweep.

Annabel Sutherland hit 26 from 13 before a late collapse of 3 for 1, but Australia still managed to reach their highest score on home soil this century.

Scratchy at first, Mooney eventually found her touch as she unleashed on Pakistan’s attack with Tuba Hassan copping the worst of the punishment on ODI debut. The 22-year-old ended up conceding 69 runs in just six overs.

Mooney wasn’t alone in handing out the punishment. Lanning hit the 22-year-old into the window of the commentary box to bring up her own 50.

Fatima Sana was the pick among the bowlers for Pakistan as she ended up with the figures of three for 53 from her 10-over spell.
