In compliance with the Supreme Court’s order, former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda submitted on Wednesday his resignation as a senator to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.

Vawda said he was resigning from the post morally and in line with the orders of the Supreme Court.

“This seat belongs to Imran Khan,” Vawda said in a tweet.

Faisal Vawda was elected as Senator on the PTI ticket in 2018.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court revoked Vawda’s lifetime disqualification in a dual nationality case, converting it into one-time disqualification.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in line with the orders of the Supreme Court, had withdrew the notification of de-seating Vawda from the Senate, and restored his Senate membership recently.

Vawda was ousted from the PTI in October last year over controversial remarks against the party’s long march.
