‘Plot to assassinate Imran Khan, Arshad Sharif prepared in meeting with Nawaz Sharif’

Tasneem Haider says that he had been called to Hassan Nawaz’s office in this regard

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-) leader Tasneem Haider, who claims of being a spokesperson of PML-N, alleged on Sunday that the conspiracy to assassinate PTI chief Imran Khan and slain senior journalist Arshad Sharif was hatched in a meeting with Nawaz Sharif in London.

“The first meeting took place on July 8, the second on Sept 20 and the third on Oct 29,” Haider said talking to media in London.

He claimed to have had three meetings with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif in Hussain Nawaz’s London office during a press conference today.

He said that he had been associated with the PML-N for the last twenty years and its spokesperson in London for the last five years, claiming that he had been called to Hassan Nawaz’s office in this regard.

Haider told the reporters that Nasir Butt introduced him to the PML-N supremo. “He [Nawaz Sharif] had been told that I can provide them shooter in Gujrat,” he claimed.

He alleged that Nawaz Sharif asked him to arrange a shooter for Khan’s assassination.

“I was told to eliminate Arshad Sharif and then Imran Khan before the appointment of the new army chief.”

The PML-N has refused to accept Tasneem Haider as a spokesman or an official of the party and has completely rejected the claim made by him.

“If he [Tasneem Haider] has evidence then present it before the JIT. No one should try to become party spokesperson by force,” Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said in a tweet.

PML-N leader Hina Pervez Butt claimed that to diver the attention from the Toshakhana cases against the PTI chief an attempt was being made to connect Haider, “a fraudster who sells fake driving licenses, fake identity cards, and fake passports”, with the PML-N.

“But this propaganda of PTI failed miserably.”

Reacting to Haider’s claim, PTI head of media affairs Fawad Chaudhary demanded that the allegations leveled by Haider be investigated.

Another PTI leader Dr. Arsalan Khanlid said in a tweet that Haider was making the accusation in London, where there were strong defamation laws.

“The Chief Justice is requested to think once what will be the difference between his being in the office or not if still an independent inquiry is not ordered.”

Meanwhile, Advisor to Chief Minister of Punjab Umar Sarfraz Cheema said that Tasneem Haider had been contacted and he had been included in the ongoing investigation regarding the attack on Imran Khan.

He said that the leadership of PML-N had earlier made statements regarding the assassination of Imran Khan in their press conferences and media talks.
