LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan reiterated on Friday his demand for fair and transparent elections and there was no stopping them as he led the protest march in Lahore.

“I will announce my decision after arriving in Islamabad,” said Imran while responding to Aaj News Lahore Bureau Chief Saleem Shaikh’s question regarding the outcome of the protest.

“We have made great efforts through dialogue, back channel talks, contacts to somehow resolve the issues,” he said.

The former premier said that public sentiment was clear as witnessed by him in the dozens of public gatherings that he has held in the recent past. “It was also seen in the election and by-election,” he said, referring to his sweeping victory in the recent held by-polls.

“But this group of thieves who are sitting above only want an NRO,” he said, referring to amnesty for past crimes including corruption.

“Their second aim is to file a case against us and somehow disqualify Imran, throw him out of the match,” he said, referring to the recent verdict of the ECP which made him ineligible to hold public office till the next general election.

“This march is not scheduled anymore. It will reach Islamabad,” he continued. “What will happen after that, you wait and see. I will decide after getting there.”

He added that the march will be peaceful and that protesters won’t turn violent. “But protest is our right. The Constitution allows me to protest peacefully.”
