Will not appear before ECP in any case: Imran Khan

Says he will challenge if the election rules are amended

Former Prime Minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan refused to appear before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

“I will not appear before the election commission in any case,” the PTI chief said talking to the journalists. He demanded that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja should resign.

A day earlier the ECP sought account details of Imran Khan from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in a case pertaining to Toshakhana gifts.

The election commission penned down a letter to the SBP seeking account details of the former prime minister.

The former premier told the journalists that CEC Raja played a central role in stopping the EVMs. “If the overseas Pakistanis are not acceptable, then there is no need to take remittances from them.”

He said that he didn’t care about the election commissioner. “We will contest the elections and I will challenge if the election rules are amended regarding overseas Pakistanis,” the ousted premier said and added that the overseas Pakistanis were being banned from joining the political process.

The PTI chairman asked the ECP to show the progress of the funding cases of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Imran Khan said that the country would not bear the consequences if free and fair elections were not held.

The PTI chief said that after the Daska election he realized that the game was being played by someone else.
