‘Will ask TTP to throw away weapons’: Pakistani jirga in Kabul for talks
A Pakistani jirga has arrived in Kabul for talks with the banned outfit, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
According to sources, the delegation comprising 53 members arrived in the capital of Afghanistan Wednesday.
The jirga includes elders from the now-defunct tribal areas of Pakistan.
PPP leader Akhundzada Chatta, who is part of the jirga, tweeted photographs of the delegation from the Islamabad airport ahead of their departure for Kabul.
They will hold negotiations with TTP through the Afghan government.
The leaders of TTP agreed to the talks after pressure from the Afghan Taliban.
The Pakistan jirga members said they will ask TTP to put down their weapons and peacefully stay in Pakistan.
