PTI will file reference against CEC in Supreme Judicial Council: Fawad
ISLAMABAD: Former information minister Fawad Chaudhry lashed out at Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja suggesting that the CEC should join PML-N.
Talking to the media outside ECP in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that PTI would file a reference against the CEC in the Supreme Judicial Council, adding that the PTI had lost trust in him [CEC].
“When the country’s biggest leadership, the biggest party loses trust in you, the respectable conduct is to resign,” Chaudhry said.
Earlier, while addressing PTI Parliamentarians in Peshawar, former prime minister Imran Khan accused CEC Raja of being “partisan and dishonest” and working for PML-N.
The former information minister said that ECP is incomplete as the members from Punjab and KP are not there.
He said that the Election Commission has always been a party. “We have no choice but to engage in political struggle,” he added.
According to PTI, CEC Raja had gone to “extremes of impartiality and dishonesty” as he was not issuing a notification to unseat the dissident MNAs of the party.
“Today we are launching a political campaign against the election commission and we will bring references against the Chief Election Commissioner,” the PTI leader said.
He said that an attempt was being made to deprive the overseas Pakistanis of their right to vote.
