Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor said that the applications for Hajj will be received from May 1 to 13.

Talking to the media at a news conference in Islamabad on Friday, the minister said applicants will deposit token money of fifty thousand rupees.

The minister said that the announcement of Hajj had come pretty late, and the details of expenses have not been received yet. Mufti Abdul Shakoor, however, said that Hajj expenses would be higher due to the cost of social distancing. He estimated that the expenditure would range between Rs. 700,000 to Rs. 1 million.

Pakistan has received a Hajj quota of 81,132 pilgrims this year with the share of 40 percent of government scheme and sixty percent of the private scheme. The upper age limit for pilgrims has been fixed as sixty-five years.

Pilgrims will have to be vaccinated with a booster dose.
