ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda last chance to submit his response by February 9 in the ineligibility case.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja headed a five-member commission that heard the case and said in his remarks that the ECP will not get under pressure by anyone regardless of their status.
Faisal Vawda’s counsel objected that it is not within the ECP’s jurisdiction to hear the petitions lodged against his client. The minister was not a US national at the time of submitting his nomination papers, and was a dual national before that, he argued. NNI
