Pakistan Navy launches indigenous built Fast Attack Craft


Pakistan Navy launched on Wednesday the indigenous built ship Fast Attack Craft (Missile) 4 at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW).     

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Defence Production (MODP), Zubaida Jalal said ministry is striving for establishment of new shipyards for economic development of the country.

Managing Director, KSEW Rear Admiral Ather Saleem shed light over the project of ship manufacturing and termed it a milestone towards self-reliance at the country level.

The ship is missile craft which Keel Laying Ceremony was held back in 2017, it will be equipped with multi mission and latest anti-ship missile and sensors. “Fast Attack Craft (Missile) is a state of the art, multi mission vessel with steel hull and aluminum super structure and equipped with indigenously developed weapons and sensors," stated KSEW.

Just weeks ago, the Pakistan Navy commissioned survey ship ‘Behr Masah' in its naval fleet, enhancing the naval research and sailing capabilities of the Pakistan Navy. The survey ship was built by China's Dajin Shipyard and would play an important role in the fulfilment of the operational requirements of the Pakistan Navy and the development of the maritime sector.

As per the Navy spokesperson, the survey vessel ‘Behr Masah' is a 3000 Ton Survey Ship which is over 80 meters in length and is equipped with state of the art equipment and is fully capable to undertake hydrographic, oceanographic and geographical surveys as well as seafloor mapping from shallow to ocean depths.
