LAHORE: An anti-narcotics court on Friday extended remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Punjab’s former law minister Rana Sanaullah till August 24 in allegedly heroin recovery case.

During the hearing, the PML-N leader was handed copies of the challan against him.

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had submitted challan against PML-N leader in a case pertaining to alleged recovery of heroin from his car.

Rana Sanaullah and six other suspects have been named in the 200-page long challan.

The court said, if a document was missing from the challan, then they be informed regarding that on the next hearing.

Sanaullah’s lawyer Mohsin Bhatti told the court, there was Rs600,000 in his client’s car which was not returned.

During the hearing, one of the co-accused in the case requested the court to allow him to hire a lawyer, which was accepted by the court.

The court ordered concerned authorities to present CCTV footage on the next hearing and asked the co-accused to hire lawyers to fight the case.

Earlier, the Sessions Court had turned town plea of Rana Sanaullah, seeking permission for provision of homemade food in the jail.

On July 1, Sanaullah was arrested by ANF near the Sukheke area in Punjab.

Sanaullah, a member of the National Assembly (MNA) and president of the PML-N’s Punjab wing, was said to have been arrested in a drug-related case.

ANF officials said he was arrested while travelling with his guards to a meeting from Faisalabad to Lahore.—INP
