PIA to start charter flights to facilitate tourists: CEO
SKARDU: Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has planned to start special charter flights for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) to provide better and safe travelling facilities to the tourists.
PIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Musharraf Rasool said special charter flights operation of the national flag carrier would be started in tourism season besides increasing normal flights for facilitation of tourists in the province.
He was talking to Senior Minister Akbar Taban and Commissioner Baltistan, Hamza Salik in Skardu.
The CEO said purpose of his visit is to analyze different options and prospects that how more improvement could be brought in the PIA service keeping in view of record increase in the arrival of foreign and domestic tourists during last two years in GB.
Rasool said tourism, business and economic activities would get tremendous boost due to increase of flights and bringing further improvement in the service in the province.
Rasool said role of PIA to bring foreign tourists to GB was of paramount importance and it would continue this national obligation. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Skardu Nadeem Nasir briefed PIA delegation about historical, geographical and tourism importance of GB. Senior officers of GB administration and PIA were also present on the occasion. –APP
