POL products' prices increased

The government has notified increase in petroleum products'' prices effective October 1.

In a monthly review, the Prime Minister has approved the prices of High Speed Diesel (HSD), Motor Sprit 92 RON and Light Diesel Oil (LDO) by Rs2 per liter each. Following the recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the Ministry of Finance has notified the new prices starting October 1 until midnight on October 31, 2017.

The new price of MS 92 RON Petrol will stand at Rs. 73.50 per litre, HSD Rs. 79.40 per litre, LDO Rs. 46.00 per litre and kerosene oil Rs. 48.00 per litre.

On Friday, Ogra had said that the prices of all petroleum products had gone up in the international market in September and the hike would needed to be passed on to the country''s consumers in October.

The regulator had recommended an increase of Rs2.35 per litre in the price of MS 92 RON and Rs 2.17 per liter for HSD. It also recommended an increase of Rs 19.33 per litre in the price of kerosene oil and Rs 14.09 per litre increase in the price of LDO.

There''s no change in the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil for several months. The government has been charging zero general sales tax and petroleum levy on kerosene oil and LDO.
