The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to draft supplementary references of two references already filed against the Sharif family members before the accountability court in compliance with the July 28 Supreme Court judgment in Panama Papers case.

The NAB on September 8 filed three corruption references against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his three children - Maryam Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz - and his son-in-law Captain Mohammad Safdar (retd), and one against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in an accountability court.

An official source said that top anti-graft body has decided to draft two supplementary references of two references: one is related to establishment of Azizia Steel Company and Hill Metal Establishment, Jeddah; and the other supplementary reference is about the establishment of companies including Flagship Investment Ltd, Hartstone Properties Ltd, Que Holdings Ltd, Quint Eaton Place 2 Ltd, Quint Saloane Ltd, Quaint Ltd, Flagship Securities Ltd, Quint Gloucestor Place Ltd, Quint Paddington Ltd, Flagship Developments Ltd, Alanna Services Ltd, Lankin SA (BVI), Chadron Inc, Ansbacher Inc, Coomber Inc and Capital FZE (Dubai).

Sources said that NAB investigators are waiting for the responses to Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) requests, sent by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which probed the Panama Paper case. "The Bureau is waiting for detailed record of companies from Saudi Arabia and UK governments in the shape of MLA responses," they said, adding that as soon as NAB receives companies' details, it will file supplementary references in the special court.

They said that JIT had sent 21 requests to six countries for Mutual Legal Assistance. The accountability court on September 13 summoned former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his two sons, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz, on September 19 in a corruption reference related to Flagship Investment Limited. The accountability court will decide the aforesaid references within six months from the date of filing of these references.
