ISLAMABAD, June 13 (APP): The personnel of Indian army and paramilitary forces vandalized houses, shops and vehicles in Shopian district against celebrations over Pakistan's win against Sri Lanka in the ongoing Champions Trophy in England, last night.

Media reports said that as soon as Pakistan won against Sri Lanka, locals came out of their houses at Vehil in Shopian and burst firecrackers to express their joy over the win, Kashmir Media Service Tuesday reported.

Indian forces boiling in anger rushed to the village and barged into houses, smashed windowpanes, ransacked shops and beat up whosoever came in their way. Several people were injured in the forces' action.

The troops also vandalized property after forcing their way into dozens of houses at Turkawangam in the district.

This led to massive anti-India protests in Shopian, today.

Shopkeepers said the forces looted goods during their raids. "For around two hours, Indian troops ruthlessly thrashed people and damaged houses," the locals said.

Some of the people injured during forces' action were shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for treatment. –APP
