A small eatery with a giant heart

WEB DESK: In Montreal, Marche Ferdous, a Muslim owned eatery is providing free meals to everyone who is hungry or can not afford food. They are doing it out of good faith. 

The small eatery with a giant heart is owned by Hashemi who migrated to Canada three decades ago. while to talking to Global News, he said,"Handing out free food is a way of saying thank you to this country that has helped me".

The co owner, Yahya Hashemi told Global News that,"Neither we judge people nor asks anything, we provide food, that's it".

The owners came up with this idea back in 2015, Fall, due to noticeable number of homeless people in the neighborhood hence, the staff decided to offer free warm meals instead of anything else.

One of the chefs in Marche Ferdous, added, "We have plenty of leftover food at night and instead of throwing it out it is better to share the meals with who are in need".

Also, Right after the decision, the staff put up a sign saying that food is available for anyone in need.

The kindness of Marche Ferdous's owners went un-notice for months but soon it successfully gained recognition when a person who worked near eatery decided to check it out.

Montreal resident Sean Jalbert, went to restaurant out of curiosity to check if all this was true. He went inside and pretend that he has no money but the staff did not ask anything instead they offer, pick whatever you want along with the drink of your choice.

Later, Jalbert, impressed by their attitude, paid and thanked them over their generosity. Not only this, he updated the kind incident on his Facebook where his post went viral, receiving over 3,100 likes and 5,100 shares.

Lastly, the owners further said that giving is a part of the culture where he grew up. Also, we Muslims, need to reflect our real image of Islam as well.
