Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that political future of their opponents would be over within next few days. While addressing a public gathering in Phool Nagar, the premier said: "Be sure, your government would not only complete its current constitutional term but would also form next government on the basis of its performance."

He said some defeated political elements wanted to avenge the Pakistani people for supporting the PML-N in 2013 general elections. These elements are not giving respect to public mandate, he said.

The premier said: "Today's Pakistan was much better than it was in 2013 and Pakistan of 2018 will be much better than it is now." He vowed that by 2018, load shedding will come to an end and it will be cheaper too. He said the country is making progress and peace is being restored due to sacrifices of army men.

Nawaz said the PML-N government is pursuing a comprehensive agenda for the country's development and prosperity. Under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), big projects in Pakistan's history are being undertaken in all the provinces. "Our opponents are trying to sabotage this development project because they feel if this government launched development projects, their political future will end," he said.

The premier said there was up to 18 hours load shedding in 2012 and now its duration has significantly reduced. "We have also cut down electricity tariff for domestic consumers as well as industrial and agricultural consumers," he said. He said they are working day and night for the development of Pakistan. New power plants are being established to overcome electricity shortages," he said.

Without naming Imran Khan, the premier said he (Imran) was demeaning the same democracy which allowed him to take to streets. That man supported referendum of a dictator (Musharraf), he said, adding: "We have fought a military dictator, undergone prison in Attock and exile only for the sake of democracy. I cannot be afraid." Expressing his pleasure over big crowd in this public meeting, the premier said he was overjoyed seeing a sea of people today.

He added in 1999 his government was overthrown. "The motorway which we constructed up to Lahore was abandoned. Now we have again started work on Lahore-Multan motorway and Multan-Karachi motorway. Gwadar Port is being developed on modern lines which will create enormous opportunities in Balochistan," he said. The premier also announced funds for Sui gas and lift irrigation projects among many others.
