Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday urged his party workers to lay siege to Islamabad until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigns or presents himself for accountability for holding offshore companies.

Imran said he would announce the final date of rally on Sunday after consulting top leadership and reviewing final arrangements in the federal capital.

"We are extending the plan for three days as Islamabad usually remains closed on Sunday. A final date in this regard will be announced later," Khan said while talking to reporters at the Lahore Airport and participants of Insaaf Professional Forum at a hotel here.

Khan said if the prime minister did not do anything wrong, he should present himself for accountability. When democratic institutions fail to provide justice, the people had no other option but taking to streets, he said. He also accused the premier of using state institutions only to hide his corruption.

"The PTI is trying to seek justice from the institutions for the last six months, but no one took their request seriously," said Khan.

He questioned as to why the chairmen of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and National Accountability Bureau had not taken any action against the corruption of Nawaz Sharif and his family. Imran said those claiming that protests would destabilize democracy in the country were actually supporting the corrupt rulers.

The PTI chairman said Pakistan's debt had increased from Rs 6.1 trillion to Rs 22.5 trillion during the last eight years, adding the country's exports and remittances had also dropped drastically. Imran said the Lahore High Court's decision against the construction of sugar mills in South Punjab was tantamount to indicting Sharifs.

He said Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali had vindicated his stance against the Sharif family and that he fully endorsed his remarks.

Imran Khan also chaired the meeting of party leaders belonging to Central Punjab and directed Shah Mahmood Qureshi to establish a liaison with the opposition parties.

Earlier, traders' representatives of 32 markets of Lahore called on Imran Khan and announced to join the PTI rally in Islamabad.
