Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan is likely to fall on July 6, the Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Saturday.

Speaking to a private TV channel, DG Met Dr Ghulam Rasool said that the moon is expected to appear on 29th of Ramazan. The moon will be first sighted at Balochistan's coastal areas including Pasni and Jiwani.

The beginning and end of Islamic months are determined by the sighting of the new moon. Eid-ul-Fitr, the religious festival of Muslims, is celebrated on the first of Shawwal according to the Muslim Hijri calendar, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramazan.
