AIOU to set-up 200 exam centres to facilitate students of far-flung regions

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) would set-up 200 hundred exam centres this year at the country's far-flung and remote regions to ensure availability of academic facilities to the students at their nearest places.

The facility is aimed at helping the students particularly females to have accessibility to quality education, said the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr.Nazir Ahmed Sangi.

The University, he said, wished to ensure availability of educational necessary facility so that each Muslim can acquire knowledge as per teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The University has set-up thirty tele-information centres on immediate basis in the country's remote and under-privileged regions to facilitate the students for receiving information about their admissions, exams, tutors and assignments.

These centres are being equipped with computers, tele-printers and scanners so that students could use these for doing their academic work.

These centres will be electronically linked with the University's main campuses to help the students acquire relevant knowledge through video-conferencing and e-learning system.

This arrangement would mainly facilitate those students who will live in the country's remote regions.
