President stresses comprehensive heart disease prevention programme
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Monday emphasized the need for comprehensive programmed on prevention of heart diseases to save precious human lives.
During a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) led by Chairman Maj Gen (R) Masud Ur Rehman Kiani that called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President called for all out efforts to create awareness among the general public on heart diseases, main causes and preventive measures.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Association to prevent, minimize and control the fatal heart related diseases in Pakistan. The delegation also comprised Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Ashraf Khan, Mahboob Elahi, Dr Abdul Qayyum Awan and Sqn Ldr Ghulam Abbas.
Chairman PANAH apprised the President about the Association, its aims and objectives of its establishment and the various achievements in prevention of heart diseases.
He informed that the main objective of the PANAH was to disseminate information about spread of heart disease, its causative and risk factors, their control and modification. The objective of such information was to prevent, minimize and control the miseries and fatalities due to angina, heart failure and heart attack in the country.
He said besides educating the general public, the Association was also imparting training regarding recognition of cardiac arrest so as to immediately carry out the drill of CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) to save the life at the site of occurrence of heart attack.
