ISLAMABAD: Renowned nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand has said that Pakistan must utilize coal of Thar which is the third largest reserve of its kind in the world.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, Dr Samar said that it was complained that use of coal creates environmental pollution but according to latest method coal is first converted into coal-gas and then used.

He said that it was a good news that China has reiterated its commitment to provide continuous support to Pakistan in terms of manufacturing nuclear power plant in Karachi and he hoped that the support of China in this field would continue.

He further said that Government should go forward for hydro power projects because this option was very cheap as compared to nuclear electricity.

He said that nuclear technology is a Carbon-free technology and the cooperation of China with Pakistan in this connection is a good sign.

He added European Union sees Pakistan as potential country in this region and Government must ensure security to the foreign investors.
