President urges early arrangements for LNG import from Yemen

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday invited investment from Yemen in energy, oil and gas sectors of Pakistan urging the two sides for early finalisation of arrangements for import of LNG from Yemen.

In a meeting with the visiting Yemeni Minister for Industry and Trade Dr Saadaldeen Ali Salim Talib who called on him here at Presidency, he said the expeditious finalisation of import of LNG from Yemen would help Pakistan cope with the energy issues besides bolstering trade and commercial ties between the two countries.

Both the sides discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

Welcoming the Yemeni minister and the accompanying delegation on their visit to Pakistan in connection with the meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission, the President hoped that the visit would prove instrumental in further enhancing the existing bilateral relations particularly trade and commercial ties between Pakistan and Yemen.

The President said that Pakistan valued its cordial relations with Yemen and desired to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields to the mutual benefit of the people of both the countries.

He emphasized the need for concerted steps on both sides to boost bilateral trade volume through increased cooperation in various sectors.

Highlighting the growing energy requirements of Pakistan, the President said that government was offering incentive packages for investment in power and energy sectors to meet the growing challenges of energy in the country.

Dr Saadaldeen Ali Salim Talib thanked the President and government of Pakistan for the hospitality extended to him and the delegation.

He said that Yemen accorded importance to its relations with Pakistan and was keen to explore ways and means to further enhance bilateral trade and commercial ties.
