LHC frees woman, daughter from police custody
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday set free a woman and her daughter who were recovered from illegal police custody.
The court also directed the DPO concerned for action against SHO involved in the incident.
Justice Shehzada Mazhar passed the orders while disposing of a habeas corpus petition filed by Mst Zainaib Bibi for the recovery of said two females.
As proceedings started, the court bailiff produced Mst Fatima and her daughter Bilqees before the court. He submitted that the police arrested both women from their home for not offering a bribe in a case. He said that they were kept in police custody without registration of a case against them.
SHO Police Station Nawan Lahore, Toba Tek Singh, Ijaz also appeared in the court on being summoned.
The court reprimanded the SHO for keeping women in illegal custody and ordered the DPO to take action against the SHO while disposing of the matter.
