Experts highlight relevance of minimal invasive surgery
KARACHI: Leading surgeons from within the country and abroad have stressed the importance of adopting minimal invasive surgical procedure called "laparoscopy" under warranted conditions.
Addressing the inaugural session of the 3-day "Minimal Invasive
Surgery Conference" in the field of Urology at Sindh Institute of
Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) on Monday.they cited it to be cost
effective, scar free and patients' friendly as provided shortest
hospital stay in major surgeries.
The prominent surgeons who spoke on the opening day included Dr
Shamim Khan, Dr Mateen Sharif, Dr Faiz Mumtaz from UK, Dr Tariq
Tasaduq from Saudi Arabia and Dr Saeed Akhtar from Islamabad.
Dr Mumtaz Maher and Dr Zafar Zaidi shared their professional
experiences vis a vis laparoscopy among the local population.
Professor Adibul Hasan Rizvi, SIUT Director and renowned surgeon
referred to the importance of the technological advancements made in
the field of surgical sciences, in particular context of urology.
He pointed out that SIUT has always played a key role towards
promotion of medical knowledge and technology in the country.
"SIUT has always been in forefront in organizing seminars,
workshops and training for medical professional to enhance their
capacities and update their knowledge," he said.
