IHC rejects plea to bar Musharraf from leaving country
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday rejected petition filed to bar former President Pervez Musharraf from travelling abroad for medical treatment.
A single member bench comprising Justice Shoukat Aziz Siddiqui, resumed hearing of the plea filed by Shohada Foundation through Tariq Assad Advocate, seeking direction to bar former president from leaving the country as several cases against him were still pending in the court of law.
During course of hearing, Justice Shaukat Aziz remarked that it is the job of the courts that provided bail to Musharraf to ensure his appearance. He could not exit from the country without the permission of the court.
He further remarked that the high court could not interfere in the jurisdiction of Special Court, constituted to hear treason case against former president General (R) Prevez Musharraf.
