Pakistan clinches first ODI against Sri Lanka
KANDY: Â Pakistan managed a comfortable victory over the Sri Lankan team in the first One Day International held on Thursday. The Pakistani team easily chased the the target of 135 with Umar Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez pioneering the batting with 36 (n.o) and 37 runs respectively.
Earlier the Pakistani team held the Sri Lanka team to a low total of 135-8, thanks to the superb bowling display from Umar Gul and Mohammad Sami. Both the pace-men were able to grab 3 wickets with Mohammad Hafeez taking the other two wickets. The match was hugely affected by rain and was eventually restricted to 42 overs.
The Pakistani team easily chased the target in the 35th over with 6 wickets to spare. Umar Gul was adjudged the Player of the match for his awesome bowling display.
