Fire incident within Services Hospital; 6 toddlers dead
LAHORE: A fire broke out within the Nursery Ward of the Services Hospital on Thursday, claiming the lives of six and burning the rest of the toddlers.
According to reports from AAJ TV correspondents, the fire erupted as a result of an electric short-circuit incident within the Services Hospital, located on the Jail Road of Lahore.
Reports have further indicated that the short-circuit occurred within the Air-conditioner's wiring, leading the oxygen cylinders to explode within the hospital. Reports have also hinted that the electricity system within the hospital was a very poor one.
The fire caused severe smoke within the ward. 4 of the 25 toddlers within the ward lost their lives immediately as a result of the fire and 2 of them later succumbed to the burns.
The Fire Brigade and the rescue operatives have controlled the situation within the area. 6 infants are still reported to be in a critical condition. An emergency has been imposed within the hospital amid the incident.
No officials of the hospital were present in order to comment over the unfortunate event.
Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Shairf, has taken notice of the incident and has called for a probe into the event.
